Wallpanels: decorative panels for a wall
Add a decorative wall panel in Shelf Maker, pick a pattern or template, place it with chips on the Position drawing, and set its size, layout, LED, and TV.
A wallpanel is a decorative panel for a wall: plain boards, slats, flutes, frames, or boiserie, with optional LED lines and a TV. In Shelf Maker it is its own object next to your cabinets, not part of a cabinet.
Add a wallpanel
- In Shelf Maker, choose Add next to your cabinets, or + Cabinet in Structure.
- Choose Wallpanel.
- Under Individual panel, pick Plain, Slats, Fluted, Framed, or Boiserie. Under Template, pick a ready layout: TV backdrop, Slats & plain, Aligned panels, Staggered panels, LED line, Raised panel, Wide frame, or Wide boiserie.
The new wallpanel is selected right away. These buttons are hidden when you opened Shelf Maker from a room in Room Planner. If Wallpanel is not in the list, wallpanel editing is not available right now. A saved wallpanel still shows, marked View only · editing is not enabled.
Room Planner cannot add a wallpanel. Its Wall panel button under Shelves & panels makes a plain board, not a wallpanel. A wallpanel that is already in the room can be selected and edited there, and Remove from room deletes it.
Settings tabs
Select the wallpanel in 3D or in Structure. Its settings use these tabs:
- Selected appears when one panel of it is picked: its Pattern, width and height, slat or flute width, gap, and direction, Projection from the wall, and Additional details to add a Raised panel or an Additional frame.
- Size: Width from 20 to 1200 cm and Height from 20 to 600 cm. Construction holds the board material and thickness, the space behind the boards, the installation wall, and Dimension sources.
- Layout: the panel drawing with Select, Split vertically, and Split horizontally, plus Joint colour and Joint details. There, Joint construction is Open, Backed, or Profile, and Joint width goes up to 100 mm.
- Color: the finishes of the panels, frames, and raised panels.
- Accessories: Backlight on the Top, Left, Right, or Bottom edge, light that is Warm, Neutral, or Cool, straight LED lines, power points, and a TV from 43 to 85 inches.
Many of these settings show a picture of the part with its value; see setting pictures.
Place it on the Position drawing
Position is a drawing of the wall with the wallpanel on it. On a large screen it stays in the left rail; on a smaller screen, open the Position tab. Every distance is a chip on that drawing; see typing on a chip. There is no position form.
- The whole wallpanel has its height from the floor. When it is fixed to a room wall, it also has its gaps to the left and right wall ends.
- A raised panel has its gaps to the left, right, bottom, and top of the panel it sits on.
- A TV has its height from the floor and its gaps to the left and right sides of its panel. Place the TV in Accessories opens Position with the TV picked.
When the wallpanel has a raised panel or a TV, the list above the drawing picks what you place: Whole wallpanel, Raised panel 1, or TV. You can also drag it on the drawing. It snaps while you drag; hold Alt to drag freely. The arrow keys move it 1 cm, 10 cm with Shift, and 0.1 cm with Alt.
Typing the height from the floor also records it as your own measurement: under Dimension sources, the elevation then reads User entered.
A value outside what fits is refused with Enter between X and Y. It is never cut to fit.
Other chips on the drawings
- Gap to the wall: in Size → Construction, the side view shows how far a wall-fixed panel stands off the wall. Type it on its chip, up to 120 cm.
- Round opening: a panel with a round opening shows Circular opening when it is selected. Type the centre from the left and from the bottom on the picture, and set Opening diameter in mm.
- Joints, empty areas, LED lines, and power points: on the drawing in Layout or Accessories, a joint you made shows its distance from the left or from the bottom. An empty area shows its place and size, and an LED line or a power point shows its distance from the left and from the bottom. Tap any of them to type.
Each edit is one Undo step. A wallpanel is decorative: check the real wall, the fixings, and the power points on site before installing.
