Gallery Wall photos and local storage

Gallery Wall keeps a separate photo library on the device where you are designing. Open Photos, choose Upload photos, then select one or several images.

Which files work#

The file picker accepts image files, but the browser must be able to decode the file. JPG, PNG, and WebP are the safest common choices. A format that works in one browser may not work in another; do not assume HEIC support. Corrupt or unsupported files are reported as rejected instead of being added silently.

For every accepted photo, Supernata records the original pixel dimensions and stores two local copies:

• the untouched original file for print-quality calculations; it is not uploaded automatically;
• a JPEG preview whose longest side is at most 1,600 pixels, used for fast thumbnails and the 3D scene.

The Gallery photo list is ordered newest first. The original is not replaced by the smaller preview.

Privacy and device storage#

While you design, these files live in this browser’s IndexedDB storage on this device. They are not uploaded merely because you added them to a wall. This means clearing site data, using private browsing, changing browser profiles, or moving to another device can make the photo files unavailable even when a saved Gallery document still remembers their asset IDs.

Keep your original image files somewhere outside the browser. A named Gallery design protects the layout; it is not an independent photo backup.

Put a photo in a frame#

1. Select a frame on the wall.
2. Open Photos.
3. Select a thumbnail to add it to the selected frame.
4. Gallery Wall opens Focus so you can move, resize, rotate, or crop the photo.

A frame can hold more than one photo. View all opens the full photo manager when the inline list is too short. Photos already used in frames remain in the library and can be used again.

Delete a photo#

Deleting a library photo removes its stored original, preview, thumbnail, and every placement of that asset across the current Gallery Wall. Because the underlying file is removed, treat this as permanent and upload the original again if you change your mind.
